Thanks must go out to those members of St John Ambulance Australia members for participating in Scouts in Action Week - B.R.A.V.O. Support from members from each State and Territory is greatly appreciated, especially the local contacts. Scouts in Action Week – First Aid was a concept developed by John Parr, who has over 35 years of Scouting experience in Victoria and Queensland. John approached Scouts Australia in 2009 after receiving funding from the Vodafone Foundation Australia World of Difference Program to dedicate a year of his life teaching 50,000 young Australians first aid skills through St John Ambulance Queensland. From that, the concept of a Scouts in Action Week was created. This program was developed and implemented by one person, just think what can be acheived with a team of dedicated and committed Leaders? After proividing first aid programs in schools and Scouts across Australia through Scouts in Action Week, John was able to reach over 58,000 young people, exceeding his target of 50,000. |
